Raritan Township Police responded to a report of “screeching tires” and a power outage near Old Croton Road at Minebrook Park in Raritan Township just before 10:35 p.m., according to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad.

Emergency crews found a heavily damaged Jeep Cherokee that had veered off the roadway, struck a utility pole, went through a ditch and a wooden fence, and flipped several times before landing behind the park's sign near the driveway.

Emergency crews used rescue tools to pop and remove the driver’s side rear door to access the back seat passenger, while the driver had self-extricated.

Both occupants were treated at the scene before being taken to the trauma unit at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Emergency crews also used thermal imaging cameras and a line search to check for additional victims due to the violent nature of the crash, though none were found.

Assisting agencies include the Raritan Township Fire Company and the HMC Mobile Intensive Care Unit.
